You're able to edit your topics' details and settings at any time. You can update multiple aspects about your topic, from your topic's name and description to if you want your topic to go live on a certain date or which camera options to allow students to use while they record a video response.

Edit your topic

Important: Some settings can only be updated on Flip.com and not through the Flip app.

On Flip.com:
  1. Go to info.flip.com and log in.
  2. From the left menu, in your groups home, select the group that has the topic you want to edit.
  3. Select the topic you want to edit.
  4. At the top right of the topic, click options More.png > Edit topic Edit_pencil.png.
  5. At the top right, choose whether to edit the topic's "Details" or the "Settings".

On the Flip app:

Customize your topic

You can customize before or after you post your topic. You'll find the "Details" and "Settings" tabs as you edit your topic.

Important: To customize your topic after you post, select a topic and at the top right, select More More.png > Edit topic. Learn more about how to edit and customize your topics.

Details

Title and description

Include a title and description. You must include this to be able to post a topic.

Recording time

Determine the maximum recording time for students. You can choose between 15 seconds to 10 minutes.

Topic media
  • Upload an image
  • Record a video
  • Select a Bitmoji, GIF, or sticker
  • Upload a video from your device
  • Link to a YouTube of Vimeo video
  • Add a attachment link (any website including a news article, Wakelet, Buncee, or Adobe Creative Cloud Express)

Settings

Topic status

Set the status of your topic to Active, Hidden or View only. If you like, you can set this status before you even create the topic.

Scheduled status

Choose a "Topic status" and then specify the dates you want this status to remain. Learn more about scheduled status here

Moderate student activity

To approve videos before they're active, turn on "Moderate videos and comments." Learn more about Topic Moderation.

Comments

Choose whether to allow text and video comments. Learn more about comments.

Closed captions

Turn closed captions on or off. You're also able to set the language for closed captions. Learn how to edit or add closed captions.

Permissions

Responses
You can choose to allow or prohibit:

  • attachment links
  • likes on videos
  • download and share for all videos
  • display view count.

Camera
You can choose to allow or prohibit:

  • essentials (basic camera features)
  • expressions (advanced camera features)
  • sticky notes (enabling individuals to look at a personal note while recording which is not captured by the camera)

Add a timestamp to your topic video

Important: Timestamps are only available on web. If you leave a timestamp on mobile, you can still view it on web.

Web Browser
  1. Go to info.flip.com and log in.
  2. At the left, in your groups home, select the group that has the topic you want to edit.
  3. You can either:
    • Update an existing topic: Select an existing topic.
    • Create a new topic: Click +.
  4. In the topic description, type the timestamp you want to reference in the video. For example, "0:11"
  5. You can either:
    • Update an existing topic: Click Update topic.
    • Post a new topic: Click Post.
