Are you new to Flip? Get Started Here.

Here are the basics: When you set up your account, you’ll first create a Topic for your learning community. Topics are discussion prompts that your students respond to with short videos. Students then Record a Response and post their video or view and Add a Comment to one another’s Responses.

Groups are a great way for educators to organize multiple Topics and share them with a community of learners. Invite your students to respond to an individual Topic or to access your Group of Topics by sharing the Join Code or Link.

Flip is available on the web and via our iOS and Android apps. 

Flip in PreK-2 Social Studies 🌍✈

Flip helps younger learners develop their voice and communicate with others while kickstarting a habit of reflection. Moreover, Flip allows all students to share their thoughts regardless of reading or writing skill level! Some goals for Social Studies in early elementary include living and working together in communities, the history of cultures around the world, how things change over time, and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Here are just a few ways that Flip can ignite engagement and capture your students’ learning process:

⭐️ Compare and contrast past, present, and future
⭐️ Demonstrate rights and responsibilities of citizenship
⭐️ Explain symbols, icons, and traditions
⭐️ Discuss the importance of individual action and character
⭐️ Explain historical figures’ impact

Once you’re ready to create your first discussion Topic, you can dive right in from your Educator Admin or head to the Discovery Library for inspiration. Here is a sampling of PreK-2 Social Studies Topics currently available in the Disco Library, all created by your peers and ready to be used with your learners!

American Symbols by Laina Rivers: Students explain what they know about their favorite American symbol.

Favorite President by Rocio Church: A Topic where students use reasoning to explain who is their favorite president.

Supporting Veterans and Military by Jornea Erwin: A Topic where students explore and share their knowledge about active military personnel or veterans.

🚀 Discovery Library: 1st Grade

I Have a Dream by Sara Malchow: A Topic that allows students to share something they can do to make the world a better place.

Goods and Services by Jornea Erwin: A Topic that asks students to create an imaginary good or service and describe how it will help consumers.

Time Travel by Emilia Miller: A Topic that challenges students to pick an important figure from history and travel back in time to meet them.

Virtual Wax Museum by Tamara Letter: A Topic for students to bring historical figures to life.

Community Helpers by Jamie Spikerman: A Topic that allows students to explain jobs to their community.

Who is Your Hero? by Dushanca Fowls: A Topic where students share about a personal hero.
