Here are the basics: When you set up your account, you’ll first create a Topic for your learning community. Topics are discussion prompts that your students respond to with short videos. Students then Record a Response and post their video or view and Add a Comment to one another’s Responses.
Groups are a great way for educators to organize multiple Topics and share them with a community of learners. Invite your students to respond to an individual Topic or to access your Group of Topics by sharing the Join Code or Link.
Flip in Grades 3-5 Reading and Writing 📖📝
Flip helps students develop their voice and communicate with others while kickstarting a habit of reflection. Moreover, Flip allows all students to share their thoughts regardless of reading or writing skill level! Some goals for Reading and Writing in upper elementary include reading with accuracy and fluency across genres as well as developing and strengthening writing to produce arguments, claims, informative/explanatory texts, narratives and opinion pieces. Here are just a few ways that Flip can ignite engagement and capture your students’ learning process:
⭐️ Apply phonics and word analysis skills
⭐️ Read text with accuracy and fluency to comprehend literature
⭐️ Compare and contrast details in multiple stories and texts
⭐️ Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts across various texts
⭐️ Determine point of view and describe the differences in focus or information provided
⭐️ Write opinion pieces with reasons and explanations
⭐️ Write informative/explanatory texts to share information clearly
⭐️ Write narratives to share real or imagined experiences with descriptive details
⭐️ Strengthen writing by planning, revising, editing, rewriting and trying new approaches
Once you’re ready to create your first discussion Topic, you can dive right in from your Educator Admin or head to the Discovery Library for inspiration.
