Add a lens to your video or selfie cover image

When you record a video or take a selfie on the Flip app, you’re able to add a lens effect. These lenses allow you to use animated lenses and filters to immerse yourself in different environments that may even change your appearance or turn you into a pencil.

How to add and remove a lens for your video

To help your video stand out, explore all the different lens options.

Note: Depending on the lens you select, it may have extra visuals or audio. After you select a lens, click or tap anywhere in the camera image to find out what the lens can do.

  1. Go to info.flip.com and log in.
  2. In the top left, click Camera Photo_camera.png.
  3. At the bottom, next to Record Record__Squircle_.png, click Lens AR_Lens.png.
  4. At the bottom, select the lens you want to use.
    • To remove a lens: Select Remove Remove.png.
  5. When you’re ready to record, click Record Record__Squircle_.png.

How to add and remove a lens for your selfie cover image

After you record your video, you’re able to take a selfie with an AR lens to set as the cover image for the video you just created. This selfie can use any lens, even if you used a different lens or didn't use a lens at all when you recorded your video.

Important: After you post or save your video, you aren’t able to change its cover image.

  1. Go to info.flip.com and log in.
  2. In the top left, click Camera Photo_camera.png.
  3. Record and review your video.
  4. On the "Save" screen, in the top left, click Edit cover > Take selfie.
  5. Next to Record Record__Squircle_.png, Click Lens AR_Lens.png.
  6. At the bottom, select the lens you want to use.
    • To remove a lens: Select Remove Remove.png.
  7. When you're ready to take the selfie, click Record Record__Squircle_.png.
