You're able to divide your screen so that you can record yourself side by side with a designated place for your other effects. You're also able to draw anywhere on your screen as you record.
How to add a board
Boards are a useful space you can use to help organize other effects, like text or photos. When you add a board, you’re able to adjust how much of your screen the board takes up.
Tip: If you want viewers to focus on the audio of your video, adjust the board so that it takes up your entire screen. Learn more about how to make an audio focused video.
The camera recenters every time you adjust the amount of space your board takes up on your screen.
- Open Flip.
- If you have lead capabilities: Go to admin.flip.com.
- If you only have member capabilities: Go to my.flip.com.
- In the top right, click Camera
.
- At the bottom, click Effects
> Board
.
- Select the board you want to use.
- To find all your options: Click the right arrow
or left arrow

- To remove your board: Click Clear boards
.

- To adjust how much of the camera image the board takes up, make sure the “Board” drawer is open. Then, on the selector slider under “Split screen,” drag the blue circle left or right.
- Open the Flip app.
- At the bottom, tap Camera

- At the bottom, tap Effects
> Board

- Scroll and select the board you want to use.
- To remove your board: tap Clear boards

How to draw in the screen
With the pen effect you’re able to use your use your mouse or finger to draw on your screen.
Important: Pen effect options differ between Flip on web and the Flip app.

- In the top right, click Camera

> Pen

- Choose your color: On the color selector slider, click and drag the circle.
- Choose your line thickness: On the selector slider under “Thickness,” click and drag the circle.
- To draw on the camera image, click and hold the mouse button while you move the cursor. When you finish your pen stroke, release the mouse.
- To undo your last pen stroke, in the top left, click Undo

- To redo your last pen stroke, in the top left, click Redo

- To delete all pen strokes, in the top left, click Clear
.

How to edit a pen stroke
Each pen stroke you start and finish is treated like a separate effect. You’re able to adjust each complete pen stroke. For example, if you draw a star but make a mistake, it’s easier to delete one star line instead of drawing it from the beginning again.
To adjust your pen strokes:
- Exit the pen effect. In the "Pen" drawer, at the top left, click Pen
.
- Select the pen stroke you want to adjust.
- Move: Drag the pen stroke across your screen.
- Resize: Click and drag a circle that outlines the blue box.
- Rotate: At the top of the blue box, click and drag the circle.
- Delete the pen stroke: Under the blue box, click Delete
.
- Mirror: To invert your text, at the bottom left of the blue box, click Mirror
.
- Copy: In the top left of the blue box, click Copy.
- Bring front or back: If you have camera effects that overlap, you can choose which to display on top or behind each other. To bring the pen stroke to the front, to the right of the blue box, click the Up arrow
. To put the pen stroke to the back, to the right of the blue box, click the Down arrow
.
- Open the Flip app.
- At the bottom, tap Camera

- At the bottom, tap Effects
> Pen
.
- Choose your color: At the right, tap and slide the circle in the color selector slider.
- To have a pen stroke that changes colors as you draw: At the right above the color selector, tap the color circle.
- If the circle outline is white, your pen stroke colors change.
- If the circle outline is black, the color of the pen stroke is whatever you selected.
- To have a pen stroke that changes colors as you draw: At the right above the color selector, tap the color circle.
- To draw on the camera image, tap and hold while you move your finger.
- To undo your last pen stroke, in the top left, tap Undo
.
- To redo your last pen stroke, in the top left, tap Redo

- To delete all pen strokes, in the top left, tap Clear
