With push notifications, you can immediately get notified on mobile about activity happening in your groups, like comments added to your videos and newly created videos and topics.

Leads and members get different types of push notifications. You can turn them on or off through your device’s settings. When you turn them on, you’ll receive all push notifications available to you.

Types of push notifications 

Leads
  • New request to join your group: When you tap, you'll be directed to your Members tab within the group to approve or deny the request.
    • Important: Make sure to update the Flip app to the latest version to get this notification. 
  • New member in your group: You'll be directed to the Members tab within the group.
  • New comment added to your video: You’ll be directed to the comments section of your video.
  • New topic created in your group: You’ll be directed to the new topic in the group. 
  • New video posted in a topic: If you created the topic, you’ll be directed to the new video in the topic.
    • Important: If you did not create the topic, you won’t receive a notification for a new video. For example, if a co-lead created the topic, they’ll receive a notification. 
Members
  • Request to join approved: You'll be directed to the group page where you've been approved.
  • New comment added to your video: You’ll be directed to the comments section of your video.
  • New topic created in your group: You’ll be directed to the new topic in the group.

How to turn push notifications on or off

iOS Android

Turn on push notifications

If you use Flip on iOS, when you create your account or log in, you'll be asked if you'd like to allow push notifications.

  1. Open the Flip app.
  2. You'll get a pop-up window that says “Flip Would like to Send You Notifications. Notifications may include alerts, sounds and icon badges. These can be configured in Settings.”
  3. If you want to:
    • Turn on push notifications: Tap Allow.
    • Turn off push notifications: Tap Don't Allow.

Turn off push notifications

  1. On your device, go to the "Settings" app.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll to "Flip."
  4. At the top, turn off Allow Notifications.
