If you're unable to use your camera, audio, or any other features, follow these basic troubleshooting options.
Option 1: Check your system for minimum requirements
Our system check site will give you information about your device, operating system, and browser.
- Go to the system check site.
- At the bottom right, click Copy system data.
- Tip: This will allow you to share it with an IT team or with us when you reach out to Support.
- If you find:
-
- A green checkmark: That means your system meets the minimum requirements to use Flip.
- A red cross: That means either your device, operating system, or browser don’t meet the minimum requirements to use Flip.
Option 2: Check our Flip platform status
If you can’t open the camera or any other tools on Flip, you can check if we’re currently working on any updates through our status page.
- Go to our Flip status page.
- Check if these areas are marked as operational:
- Educator dashboard
- Student/guest videos – web browser
- Student/guest videos – iOS app
- Student/guest videos – Android app
- Next to each area, if you find the label “Operational,” that means all Flip tools are operating normally.
Option 3: Check your camera and microphone’s access to Flip
You can give access depending on if you’re using Flip on a computer, iOS device, or an Android device.
Computer
Step 1: Check your browser settings
- Go to info.flip.com and log in.
- In the URL bar next to the Flip URL, click the lock icon.
- Make sure both camera and microphone have permissions.
- For Microsoft Edge: Next to both settings it should say “Allow.”
- For Chrome: Both camera and microphone permissions should be turned on.
- Click Refresh.
Step 2: Check your computer settings
iOS
- On your device, tap Settings.
- At the top, in the search bar, enter "Flip." Then, tap Flip.
- You can also scroll and tap Flip.
- Turn on Camera permissions or Microphone.
Android
- On your device, tap Settings > Apps.
- At the top, in the search bar, enter "Flip."
- You can also scroll and tap Flip.
- Tap Permissions.
- Under "Not allowed," tap Camera or Microphone.
- Select Allow only while using the app.
