You can easily sign up for a Flip account with your email address. Your email address must be connected to a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account.

This article will help you:

  • Find out if your personal or organizational email is already connected to a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account.
  • Link your personal or organizational email to a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account, if it’s not already.

Important: If you were invited to join a group, use the join link or code before you try to sign up as a educator. Learn more about how to find out if you can sign up and become an educator.


Step 1: Find out if your email is connected to Microsoft, Google, or Apple

Microsoft or Google

You have a Microsoft or Google email:

If it ends with

  • @outlook.com
  • @gmail.com

Go to Step 3.

If it's connected through Microsoft or Google apps

Apple

Important: If you create an Apple ID with a Google or Microsoft email you've already used on Flip, that Apple ID will sign in to the same Google or Microsoft associated Flip account.

You have an Apple email:

  • If you created an iCloud account: This means your iCloud email addresses and aliases may end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com domains.
  • If you have an Apple account associated with an Apple ID: This consists of any email address and password. Learn more about Apple account email addresses
    • If you have an Apple email: Go to Step 3.
    • If you don't have an Apple email: To create a new Apple account with your email, go to Step 2.


Step 2: Connect your email to Microsoft, Google, or Apple

You can use any email to create a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account.

Note: When you create a Microsoft, Google, or Apple account, you’ll also have to set a password for the account. This password is separate from the one you use to sign in to your existing email.

To create a new Microsoft, Google, or Apple account:

Microsoft account
  1. Go to account.microsoft.com.
  2. Select Create a Microsoft account.
  3. Enter the email you want to use. Then, select Next.
  4. Enter a password for your Microsoft account. Then, select Next.
  5. Select your country and birthdate. Then, select Next.
  6. Go to your email and open the “Verify your email address” email. In that email, find the security code.
  7. On the Microsoft account sign up page, enter the security code. Then, select Next.
  8. Follow the on screen instructions to complete your account creation.

Google account
  1. Go to accounts.google.com/signup.
  2. Enter your information.
    1. Important: Under “Username,” select Use my current email address instead. Then, enter the email address you use.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Go to your email and open the “Verify your email address” email. In that email, find the security code.
  5. On the Google account sign up page, enter the security code. Then, select Next.
  6. Enter your birthdate and gender. Then, select Next.
    • Optional: You can enter a phone number. If you do this, Google will want to send you a text message to verify your number.
  7. Read through the privacy and terms of a Google account. Then, select I agree.

Apple account

Create an Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Windows PC or another device on web.

Step 3: Sign up or sign in to Flip

With your email connected to Microsoft, Google, or Apple, you can sign up or sign in to Flip. You can do this through your web browser or the Flip app.

Web Browser Mobile Application
  1. Go to info.flip.com.
  2. Sign up for Flip:
  3. Follow the steps on-screen to either sign up as an educator or sign in as a student, and select an option:
    • Continue with Microsoft.
    • Continue with Google.
    • Continue with Apple.
